NURSERY
While we have always used best practices concerning the health and safety the children in our nursery and our nursery staff, COVID-19 has led us to adopt major changes in our health and safety procedures. For a church nursery to open, the CDC recommends the following:
Implementing Screening procedures upon arrival
Intensify cleaning and disinfecting efforts
Implementing Social Distancing Strategies when possible
Modified Drop off and Pick up procedures
Encourage all nursery staff and church members to protect their personal health
While we have always used best practices concerning the health and safety the children in our nursery and our nursery staff, COVID-19 has led us to adopt major changes in our health and safety procedures. For a church nursery to open, the CDC recommends the following:
- Implement screening procedures upon arrival
- Intensify cleaning and disinfecting efforts in all nursery rooms
- Implement social distancing strategies when possible
- Modify drop-off and pick-up procedures
- Encourage nursery staff and members to protect their personal health
Implementing Screening procedures upon arrival
- Temperatures will be checked upon arrival of all children entering the nursery with no child with a temperature of 99.5 or higher admitted
- Children will be asked to wash their hands immediately upon arrival (supervised by nursery workers for using the correct procedures) Staff will also wash their hands upon arrival and often during the nursery sessions
Intensify cleaning and disinfecting efforts
- Hand hygiene stations will be set up at the entrances to the nursery rooms and in the main entrance and reception desk area
- Handwashing posters are in all nursery rooms
- Nursery staff will supervise and monitor extra hand washing when needed
- Toys will be disinfected on a regular basis along with highly touched surfaces
- Nursery beds and sitting play seats will also be sanitized regularly
- All cleaning supplies will be kept secure and out of the reach of children
Implementing Social Distancing Strategies when possible
- Nursery rooms will include the same children on the day they are present with no moving between rooms
- The nursery staff will help with supervising the social distancing as much as possible by separating play areas when possible
- Visitors will not be allowed on the nursery wing (only nursery staff and children) Parents drop off and pick up is explained in the next segment
Modified Drop off and Pick up procedures
- Drop off – Parents will enter the nursery area at the main entrance only
- When entering please wear a mask
- Temperatures will be taken at the main nursery desk area
- Once temperatures are checked and instructions given (about bottles, etc) a nursery worker will take the child to the appropriate room
- If a child seems sick or has an increase in temperature while in the nursery, the child will be isolated in another room with a nursery worker and parents will be contacted to come pick up the child immediately
- Pick up - Parents will again enter the main nursery desk area and a nursery worker will go and get their child and bring them out to the parents along with diaper bags, etc.
- Parents will be asked to social distance during the drop off and pick up times staying 6 feet apart and wearing masks at all times
Encourage all nursery staff and church members to protect their personal health
- Any child or nursery staff member must stay home if any family member is sick for any reason
- All nursery staff will wear masks upon entering and exiting the nursery as all who enter our nursery area are asked to do
- All staff and church members should use hand sanitizer at stations located throughout our campus to help stop the spreading of germs
- No child will be allowed to enter the nursery if they have had the following symptoms within the previous 72 hours: fever, rash, cough, vomiting and or general lethargy
